On one occasion while a Chaplain was visiting an offshore installation, the chaplain was in conversation with a worker and was told of a favourite uncle who was dying in hospital. The worker had visited with their loved one before returning to work offshore but was deeply saddened by the pending death. At the prayer service that evening, the worker spoke of their loved one and the community of workers who had gathered for the prayer service prayed for the dying person. Later that evening, after the service, the worker told the chaplain that their loved one had died at approximately the same time we had been praying for them in the prayer service. The worker was comforted by this and was grateful that the chaplain was there to spend time together and give consolation and support during their time of loss.
